Monday 24 May - Kyneton Racecourse
Crowd: 1000
Kyneton 0
Melbourne 7 (half time 0-4)
Melbourne win by 7 goals
Goalkickers: Austin Loughnan 3, William Freeman 2, Andrew Loughnan 2
Kyneton had four extra players (20-16) but were still thrashed. The locals kicked with the wind but it was light and had barely any advantage. They attacked with a great rush at the kick off, but were held up by the defence and from there it was all Melbourne. By half time the visitors were four goals up.
Melbourne had the advantage of playing together regularly, while their opponents were disjointed. The Loughnane brothers added three between them after Freeman's opener and the game was over.
Best were John Bennie, James Bennie and Andrew Loughnan.
