One of the most travelled players in league history, the full-back played a year each at Collingwood and Carlton, before two seasons at Richmond. He then joined Melbourne.
He lasted just three games and half a season before moving to South Melbourne and ending his career at the end of 1912.
Abbott was the first player to appear for five different league football clubs. His travels weren't confined to a nomadic VFL career, he also turned out for VFA sides North Melbourne and Port Melbourne at various times.
His brother Clarrie also played with him at both Collingwood and Melbourne.
May have played with Williamstown in 1919.
