In their first AFLW final, Melbourne were within a few minutes of defeat before winning in a miracle finish. With only one goal on the board after a frustrating three quarters, and trailing by 16 points, the Demons kicked the last three goals from set shots to win. First Shelley Scott, then Sarah Perkins, and finally Lily Mithen with a minute to play. Earlier in the game Mithen had kicked the first goal of her senior career.
Best were Paxman, Birch and D. Pearce.
Victory qualified the Demons for a Preliminary Final against Fremantle. The game wasn't played due to the cancellation of the AFLW season the next day.
