Career statistics
Stamped as a future champion when he won state selection after three senior games, Baldock was being called the best young player in the state in 1959 when a number of VFL clubs tried to recruit him. Melbourne offered Baldock a lucrative deal, including an appealing employment contract, but was beaten to his signature by South Melbourne. Supporters of Latrobe, the Tasmanian club he'd coached in 1959, countered by buying him a milk bar and he was convinced to stay for another three seasons. He eventually joined St Kilda in 1962, playing in their premiership side and becoming a club legend
Later served in the Tasmanian parliament, and returned to coach St Kilda in the 1980s.
Named as a Legend and Icon in the Tasmanian Football Hall of Fame.
