1936 and 1937 Seconds centre-half forward, who was cleared to Geelong in 1938. He played Seconds there before playing at Coburg in 1939, until having to leave in the middle of the year due to business reasons. He was cleared to a junior club in the Geelong area. Returned to Coburg in 1940 and was best and fairest, but his career was interrupted while serving with the RAAF (1 Embarkation Depot) during World War II.

He had first been cleared to Geelong in 1938, where he played Seconds, but required a second clearance in 1944 when he was swapped for Percy Taylor. After three years out of the game he made his senior debut for Geelong that season.It was the first time he'd played in defence, but he won their Best and Fairest. After playing a pre-season game for Coburg in 1945 he returned for two more seasons at Kardinia Park.
