Nickname "Zebra", Zantuck played five games for North Melbourne from 1974, before moving to South Melbourne where he played a further 56 in four years.
Zantuck joined Melbourne in 1981 but was hampered by hamstring injuries early in his career with the Demons, and was restricted to seven games in his first season. He became a regular in 1982 with 16 games, and only missed one match in 1983. In 1984 he dropped back to 14 games, and was involved in a fiery bust-up with coach Ron Barassi at 3/4 time of Round 14, 1984. It was later revealed that the incident had started after he had looked directly at Barassi while the coach was berating his team for not looking at him.
Zantuck was a regular again in 1985 before drifting out of the side in 1986 and retiring after playing just nine games. In 1987 he stayed at the club and served as a specialist coach. He is one of the few VFL/AFL players to have appeared in over 100 senior and Reserves games during his career.
In 1990 he returned as Chairman of Selectors, and served on the match committee, serving until the end of 1991. His son Ty played AFL football for Richmond and Essendon.
Coached St Bernards in 1996.
