As always seems to be the case, a new coach helped his side to a first up win. This time it was Neil Craig, who had just replaced Gary Ayres but it was the magnitude of the victory which was the most damaging part of the saga.
Jeff White, in the midst of his best ever season, was demolished in the ruck by Rhett Biglands and Scott Welsh kicked a career high eight goals.
Adem Yze was reported for charging but the case was withdrawn.
