June 1880 match vs Carlton
June 5 - MCG
Carlton 5.12 defeated Melbourne 1.5 (HT 2-1)
Crowd: Between 10,000 and 15,000
The largest crowd to watch a game of football yet saw the blue side come out comprehensive victors.
The MCC had been forced to graze 2,000 sheep across the ground before the match to get the ground into suitable condition and Melbourne prepared for the game with extra training but after kicking the first goal they failed to add another one and were beaten comfortably.
