Originally from Oakleigh, the older brother of Peter Giles was a mature aged recruit from Springvale when he joined as a 24-year-old. After playing two consecutive games in the middle of the Demons horror 1981 season he was dropped and returned to Springvale the next year.
He joined Prahran in 1985, playing in their 1987 VFA Second Division premiership side and remained there until retiring at the end of 1989.
