In 2000, Lia was awarded his third life membership for sport in the Goulburn Valley Region, for the North Eastern Soccer Leagues after previously being honoured by the Goulburn Valley Football League and Tatura Soccer Club. In 2014 he was also made a life member of Football Victoria.
