Career statistics
Originally drafted by Hawthorn with selection 46 in the 2023 National Draft, the defender had to wait until 2026 to play his first senior games for the club. After five matches, he returned to the VFL and played in a premiership with Box Hill. At the end of the season Hawthorn announced Ryan would be delisted, but Melbourne traded a late draft pick to avoid having to wait to draft him later in the year.
The trade was only the second time Melbourne had exchanged a triple figure selection for a player, and the first since Adrian Campbell in 1992.
Ryan's cousin Jakob was drafted by Collingwood in 2022.
