Playing to avoid another straight sets exit after losing both games in the 2023 finals, Melbourne kicked the first two goals of the game as they had the previous week. Again, they had to withstand a charge by the opposition after that, and after conceding five goals to one in the second quarter they trailled by 13 points at half time. Melbourne fought back to level scores at the final change, and went on to win by 11 points and make their first Preliminary Final since the 2022 Spring premiership season.
Best were Hore, Heath, and Gillard
