Melbourne survived a scare from the winless Tigers in the annual Anzac Day eve game, drawing away to win easily in the last quarter. Richmond took the lead early in the second term, before the Demons got four of the last five to take a 21 point lead into the main break. Richmond challenged again, with the margin still 11 points midway through the third quarter. Before the visitors had a six goal to one final term to win comfortably.
Best were Kysaiah Pickett (who won the Checker Hughes Medal for Best Player), Tom Sparrow, and Caleb Windsor. Jai Culley suffered a season ending knee injury.
