Residentially zoned to Melbourne, but was swapped to Richmond in June 1953 after trained with Melbourne in the pre-season. Dunin played six seasons for Richmond before retiring due to a knee injury.

Coached the Victorian Amateurs to victory in the 1967 national amateur carnival and was involved with the Manuka and Southern Districts clubs in the ACT.
