The first practice game of the season was Melbourne's first outing under new coach Steven King, and with several new players. As an 'unofficial' match, the last two minutes of each half involved match 'simulation', first Melbourne defending a two point lead, then North doing the same at the end of the game.
Behind a dominant best on ground performance by Kysaiah Pickett, Melbourne extended their lead at every change, going on to an easy win.
Harry Sharp kicked a goal in the second simulation period, which was not counted in the official scores.
Best were Pickett, Steele, and Howes. Brody Mihocek missed the second half due to concussion.
