After three straight losses in the pre-season competition Melbourne finally got their first win of the year against an undermanned Hawthorn.
Best were Robertson, Bruce and Yze. Darren Jolly hurt his shoulder and both Clint Bizzell (stomach) and David Schwarz (buttock) were troubled by injury.
