AIS/AFL Academy graduate and Victoria Metro representative in 2008 who played much of pre-draft football with the Yarra Valley Grammar school side. Suffered a broken leg midway throughout the year during a schoolyard mishap and missed most of the season. Blease returned through the Casey Reserves in 2010, but despite making their senior side at the end of the year he couldn't break through for a game at Melbourne. He signed a contract extension at the end of the season, keeping him at the club until 2012. He eventually made his debut as a substitute in Round 15, 2011 and won a Rising Star nomination in his fourth match.

Unwanted early in the reign of Mark Neeld, Blease was forced to work on his tackling and defensive pressure before gaining a regular spot in the side. He won 29 possessions in his second match of the year but was dropped just a month later. After breaking through as a late replacement for the Round 13 win over Greater Western Sydney he played the rest of the season, earning a second Rising Star nomination after five goals in the ' Round 18 loss to St Kilda, and signed a contract extension the next week.

He missed the start of 2013 after suffering an ankle injury in Melbourne's opening NAB Cup Match and had a disappointing season, only kicking five goals in 10 games and having more 10 disposals just twice for the year. An ankle injury finished his season in Round 21. 2014 was Blease's worst season, confined to the VFL until Round 18, then playing just two games before being dropped. At the end of the season he was delisted, joining Geelong as a free agent and playing one game for them in 2015 before retiring after a serious concussion.

Served as the Western Bulldogs AFLW midfield coach during 2019, and as Football Manager of Trinity Beach from the end of 2019 onwards.
