Still lacking their three first choice forwards, Melbourne again struggled to score and were torn apart by the Eagles' embarrassment of riches. West Coast restricted the Demons to a point in the first quarter, and after it took them almost six minutes to get the first goal of the game the Eagles then piled on another five to open up a match winning lead.

Melbourne matched their opponents on most of the key disposal stats, but turnover goals and an inability to find targets inside 50 cost them dearly. They managed just 30 points for the day, one of their lowest scores of the AFL era - equal to their second lowest total in 2013.

Best were Jones, Cross and Dunn.
