'Bunty' Niven, brother of Melbourne's Colin crossed from Fitzroy midway through the 1934 season after being left off their final list. He had missed 1932 while playing with West Perth.

Niven was dropped from Melbourne's list in the 1935 pre-season. Played with VFA side Brighton from 1936 to 1938.
