A returned serviceman who had served in the navy during the war, Raymond Alfredo Daniel Jones was a surprise selection to Collingwood's 1946 semi-final side after playing just one career match beforehand. In total he spent three years at the Magpies for 22 games.
While simultaneously studying architechure at the University of Melbourne, Jones played one game for the Demons in 1949. While his football career failed to take off he would soon become a well known architect.
Moving to Western Australia in 1953 he played in a premiership with South Fremantle before beginning his own architecture practice.
