Defender who joined Melbourne after serving a year suspension arising from Essendon's supplements saga. After a delayed start to the season due to injury he became a key player in the backline of an improved Demon side. Despite missing four games at the start of the year he was named in defence for the All Australian side and played International Rules against Ireland.

Played a further 21 games in 2018 and 19 in 2019 but saw his form drop off in the second season. He was out ofthe side twice in the shortened 2020 campaign, and didn't play his first game of 2021 until Round 5. After being dropped for two weeks late in the season, Hibberd returned to the side in Round 22, but was left out the next week. A hamstring injury to Joel Smith after the Qualifying Final allowed him to return to the team, playing in that year's premiership win.

Hibberd had a delayed start to 2022, with a pre-season calf injury keeping him out of the senior side until Round 13. He returned to play 12 games, including both Melbourne's losing finals.
