Not actually a Lloyd, but with the middle name "George" he earnt his nickname from the British PM Lloyd George. The Tasmanian centre-half forward impressed in a game with the reserves in 1943 but was called up by the RAAF and unable to play until he returned. He also suffered trouble with injuries during that year.
Had been playing in Tasmania since 1934 before travelling to Melbourne, moving several times due to his job with the railways.
Only one 'Bennett' with a war record shares the same birthday.
