June 1874 match vs Albert Park

Saturday 6 June - Melbourne Ground

Melbourne 0
Albert Park 1 (half time 0-1)

Albert Park win by 1 goal

Melbourne began with the breeze, but on a slippery ground the visitors were the better side early in the match. Before the half time break Albert Park opened the scoring with a place kick, and despite a game effort Melbourne failed to equalised before the interval.

The home side dominated early in the second half but continued to missed chances on goal. When Albert Park got the ball they often kicked it out of bounds in an attempt to waste time. The ball rarely went outside Melbourne's attacking area but they were unable to break through for an equaliser and lost.

Best were Andrew Loughnan, Goldsmith and Kneen.
