Brendan McCartney

DOB: 23 October 1960

Sacked after coaching the Western Bulldogs for three seasons between 2012 and 2014, McCartney was named Development and Strategy Coach in October that year.

McCartney had been recommended to Melbourne by senior assistant and future senior coach Simon Goodwin after they had worked together at Essendon, and the plan called for him to serve as an assistant until Goodwin took over the senior job from Paul Roos in 2017 then work as his coaching mentor.

Defensive coach in 2019 until a switch in June to a mentoring position for assistant coaches. McCartney left at the end of that year.

McCartney also coached Richmond Reserves in 1998 and 1999.
