A midfielder, Fisher won the Sheehan Medal for best player in the 2000 Under 16 National Championships. He was also named All-Australian that year. One of the teammates that he beat to the Sheehan Medal was Chris Judd. He once again earned All-Australian schoolboy honours the next year in a side including Nick Dal Santo, Luke Hodge and Luke Ball.
The next year he won his third consecutive All-Australian honour in the Under 18's competition while captain of the Victorian Country side. He then won the Best and fairest at North Ballarat in 2002 before joining the Demons where he was assigned number 44 but he never played senior football.
Fisher played 14 games in the Sandringham midfield in 2003 but was delisted at the end of 2004.
He joined Glenelg in 2005, playing 92 games and winning their Best and Fairest in 2009, his last season with the SANFL club.
