The Jubilee Cup was played in wet conditions, with soccer skills being more common than Australian Rules in the shortened 20 minute matches thanks to windy, rainy conditions at the MCG. All receipts were donated the war effort.

Melbourne did to make the finals considering they had 13 injured players going into the tournament.

Roy Dowsing was the top goalkicker on the day with four. Alby Rodda broke his leg during one of the matches and missed the rest of the year.
