Saturday 16 September - Melbourne Ground
Melbourne 2
St Kilda 0 (half time 1-0)
Melbourne win by 2 goals
Goalkickers: Fred Baker 1, Nicholas 1
Both teams played with 18 as they were unable to muster any more.
St Kilda won the toss and kicked with a strong wind. Despite this handicap Melbourne were the first to attack, but after only kicking a behind the visitors had their turn. Melbourne's defence was too strong, and they worked the ball forward for Baker to kick the opener. St Kilda had their chances but missed easy shots.
Nicholas got the second goal, and the rest of the game was unproductive on a wet, slippery surface.
Best were Sillett, John Bennie and James Bennie.
