Despite losing Jake Spencer to a shoulder injury and Tim Smith to broken ribs before half-time, Melbourne opened a 20 point lead at the last change. With two players less and Christian Petracca forced to play exclusively as a forward due to injury the Dees were overrun by the fast finishing Tigers.
The third ANZAC Day eve game was the largest home and away crowd that Melbourne had played in front of since 1964, and the largest of any crowd since the Grand Final 2000.
Best were Hunt, Hibberd and Oliver. Nathan Jones and Jack Viney were fined $2500 each for engaging in a melee.
