In the second annual Anzac Day eve match the Demons looked to win their first consecutive games in a season since 2011. Melbourne got a fast start with two goals before Richmond hit back to take the lead, but it was the last time the Tigers were in front. They threatened several times during the evening but could never get closer than within a goal and the Demons kicked way to an easy victory with six goals to three in the last quarter.
Best were Tyson, Viney and Gawn.
Lynden Dunn, Jayden Hunt, Christian Salem and Jack Viney were all fined $1000 for a quarter time melee. Tomas Bugg was fined $1000 for making contact with Jack Riewoldt while he was injured and Nathan Jones fined $1500 for wrestling.
