First goal
Jordan Gysberts (4th game)
After a poor second half against Hawthorn a week earlier, the Demons were under siege in the first quarter and were more than four goals down at the first change. The margin blew out to five goals nine minutes into the second quarter before Liam Jurrah kicked two of his three goals for the quarter from outside 50m on the run to spark the side.
When Jurrah kicked his fifth shortly after the restart scores were level, but when the rain came heavily at the MCG the Lions fought back. It took a late quarter burst to open up a decent margin at three quarter time.
The Lions got the first two goals of a tight last quarter and had the Melbourne backline under siege, and with minutes left they cut the margin to six points before a long Brent Moloney kick to the square was escorted through by Jurrah and the Demons registered their first win of the season.
Cale Morton replaced Jack Watts during the third quarter.
Best were Jamar, Moloney and Jurrah
