Melbourne FC Women

The first official female side playing under the Melbourne FC banner took part in a match against the Western Bulldogs on Saturday 29 June 2013. The same two teams played the return match on Saturday 28 June 2014, and again in 2015.

In both years a draft of nominated female players took place before the match, but the clubs retained a number of players. An official AFL Women's competition was launched in 2017, Melbourne won its first premiership in the 2022 AFLW spring season.

Matches against Western Bulldogs are played for the Hampson-Hardeman Cup, named after two women's football pioneers.
